There are many options of food that you can give to your pet. Types differ according to your pet's age. Dry food is a good option but should be uncolored, high quality, and have high protein content. Wet food is also a good choice especially for young pets as it’s softer. Balanced homemade meals could be fine.

4. What food is forbidden for my pet?

Chocolate (toxic), avocado, any junk food, grapes, tomato, onion, garlic, sweets, tea, coffee, yeast, soy, species, and nuts.

Most dogs and cats are lactose intolerant.

5. Is it normal that my pet doesn’t drink much water?

If your pet eats wet food, it’s normal to drink less water since they get their required water intake from the wet food. The way you give water to your pet plays an important role in drinking water, the water bowl should be clean all the time (preferred to be stainless steel) and filled with clean fresh water.

6. Is it normal for my pet to eat their stool?

You should bathe your pet between 1 to 2 times (could increase according to the breed) per month with pet shampoo (not a human shampoo), to keep their coat shiny and clean.

8. When could I start brushing my pet's teeth?

You should brush your pet teeth at the age of 4 months twice per day since it’s the age of permanent teeth eruption, make sure to use pet toothpaste, and not human toothpaste. You can start brushing your pet’s teeth at a younger age from time to time to get them used to this process.

9. How can I look for fleas on my pet?

Fleas can live on your pet's skin between hair, they are parasites that take your pet as a host to live on. You can easily find their adult form between their hair, and their eggs appear as black dust on your pet’s skin.

Fleas act as a risk factor for your pet, they transfer different types of worms to your pet and can cause serious dermal diseases that may take a long time to recover from and cost a lot to be treated.

You can avoid flea infections by giving your pet anti-flea drugs monthly, especially if your pet goes outside.

10. My pet is shedding a lot, what is the problem?

It’s normal if your pet is shedding if it’s in a small amount. Brushing your pet every week (you may increase the frequency according to the breed) will help a lot in collecting unwanted hair.

If you notice any extreme shedding or loss of hair, you have to visit the vet to determine the cause and provide medical treatment.

To avoid such cases, you have to feed your pet balanced food, give them anti-flea and deworming drugs periodically and brush your pet’s coat from time to time.

11. How do I give the best care for my pet during the summers?

Summer is the season in which fleas become more active and spread more, so make sure to give your pet their anti-flea drugs at the beginning of summer.

High temperatures in summer may cause heat stroke to your pet, especially if your pet’s breed originates from a cold weather country. You can prevent this by bathing your pet several times a week, grooming your pet’s hair, providing cool water for your pet at all times, and keeping your pet’s place cool, not hot.
